Suicide is a very touchy subject. There are a lot of different views on it. A lot of you have probably heard of the 14 year old girl who recently killed herself due to comments she had been receiving on askfm telling her she’s ugly and that she should die.
I have witnessed people defending her, and I’ve also witnessed people saying that she’s an idiot for not deactivating the account. Words that pretty much sum up how I feel were put very well by a good friend of mine on this particular facebook page. I’d like you to all take a look:
Here is what my friend said:
People react differently to abuse and its all well and good saying “why didn’t she do this why didn’t she do that what an idiot omg” but at the end of the day she’s ended her life because of it. If something’s bad enough for someone to end their life, shouldn’t that be addressed over what a now dead teenager should have would have could have done? Yes i agree she SHOULD have deleted the account, but it’s more than likely that she was getting harassed at school or around her neighbourhood as well. You don’t know someone just by reading an article over the internet. And if you don’t know her, what gives you the right to judge her actions and call her a “dumb bitch”?
And yes its awful that kids that get killed by drones are overlooked, but at this moment in time, on this post, it is very much irrelevant. If you want people to talk about it, make a separate post on a facebook page like this or on your own damn timeline about how awful it is, because a post about a 14 year old girl’s suicide is not the place to be doing it.
I am very proud of her. I always have been, I always will be.
